Hot on the heels of The Look of Love, Cabaret Rouge appeared on BBC2 in the drama series Peaky Blinders starring Cillian Murphy. We were the 1920s flappers, the "Busby Barclay Showgirls" performing at the races. If you're quick you can still catch Episode 3 on BBC iPlayer.
If you've seen Michael Winterbottom's The Look of Love, starring Steve Coogan and Anna Friel then you'll have undoubtedly seen Katie Derry, Jade Phipps and Gemma from Cabaret Rouge as the nude dancers in Paul Raymond's Revue Bar.
Here are some screenshots from the film a fan sent to us. Be warned, they contain a lot of nudity!
Those fabulous folks at the Black Cat Cabaret have put together a beautiful new poster, with us hidden in there in full Ballet Whore attire.
It certainly drew some bemused looks on the tube home after the shoot! Slightly biased but we love it as a routine and it's exclusive to Black Cat so get your tickets quick before they sell out!
The Look of Love starring Steve Coogan, Anna Friel, David Walliams and Stephen Fry is coming to the big screen in the UK on 26th April 2013.
We've seen an advance screening and thought it was brilliant! We are slightly biased though as there's plenty of shots of us dancing around naked as you'll see from the trailer!
If you've seen the lovely ladies of Cabaret Rouge perform their fan dance and want to get the look yourself, head on over to Holloway Smith Noir where you can pick up the Cabaret Rouge pasties! Perfect for valentines day!
We are very excited to announce that in January 2013 we will be returning to the Cafe de Paris as part of the cast of The Black Cat Cabaret.
Dreamed up by long-term collaborators Vicky Butterfly, Dusty Limits and David Harris, The Black Cat Cabaret draws inspiration from the absinthe-soaked heyday of Montmartre’s dark and daring cabaret underworld. Expect a carnival of street singers and mad musicians, acrobats, dancers and illusionists, delirious comics and exotic artistes, as well as a contemporary take on belle epoque Chinese shadow plays.
The Black Cat Cabaret is a place to encounter modern performance in all its wondrous forms – from the sacred to the profane, the lyrical to the louche – with walkabout entertainment, fine dining and a spectacular and provocative stage show amidst the grandeur of London’s most historic variety venue. It’s where London’s revellers come to rub shoulders and purr, as the elusive eponymous feline watches from the shadows…
Early bird tickets from £12 and dinner packages from £47.50
Michael Winterbottom's King of Soho has been renamed The Look of Love and the first poster for it features two of Cabaret Rouge's scantily clad burlesque fan dancers either side of star Steve Coogan.
The biopic of porn baron Paul Raymond also stars Anna Friel, David Walliams, Matt Lucas and Stephen Fry and is due for release March 8th 2013.
Hugh Cornwell, former Stranglers frontman has released his latest music video "Totem and Taboo" featuring Cabaret Rouge.
We even got a little mention from him in his BBC Breakfast interview!
If you're a fan of Paul Weller, you've probably already seen the storm he's stirred up in the media with his latest video "Dragonfly" starring a beautiful, naked, young lady.
What you may not have known though is that beautiful, naked, young lady is Katie from Cabaret Rouge!
Britain’s cities are full of burlesque and cabaret shows. In London you’d be hard pushed to find a night where someone somewhere isn’t waving their feathers and getting their Swarovski out. In rural villages like Roadwater in Somerset however, pasties are always about steak and nothing whatsoever to do with nipples. So when our favourite stage manager told us she was visiting home and the village hall, the Mineral Line, wanted to put on our full length show, we were a little surprised to say the least!
The e-mails said don’t hold back but we were still a little apprehensive about how the locals would react to merkins and bare bottoms! Knowing the show had sold out well in advance we crammed ourselves and all our burlesque paraphernalia into a woefully small hire car! It may have been a 7 seater but seats 6 & 7 turned out to be in the boot so there was a lot of luggage on laps!
After 4 hours on the road we arrived in the village and it couldn’t have been more quintessentially rural England, nothing like the hustle and bustle of Piccadilly Circus that we’re used to for The Wam Bam Club every week! The stage was massive with a great sound & lighting set-up and big changing area, certainly not what we were expecting from a village hall – it’d put a lot of London venues to shame!
As a troupe we pride ourselves on how tight our performances are and that’s down to rehearsing our routines until they’re second nature. This show was no exception and we spent several hours on the stage before customers started arriving to make sure that Somerset got the best performance we could give.
As we got ready, we were all treated to the same dinner the audience were having, cooked by some of the local residents. A delicious beef stroganoff went down much better than our usual pre-show visit to Pret! As the audience arrived, dressed up in their finest, there was a real buzz about the place. Jade was there performing her fire routines outside and Fifi was on the door in her Holloway Smith Noir circus burlesque outfit to greet people as they came in.
As soon as the house lights went down and we stepped out on stage in our Showgirl costumes we realised what a great audience we were going to be performing for! Whereas London audiences can sometimes have a “come on then, impress me” attitude, this crowd was just there for a good time! Every single number got a great reaction especially when the angle grinder came out. Power tools and scantily clad ladies seemed to be a winning combination! Our favourite bit of feedback was from a guy who uses angle grinders in his day job and thought it was amazing because he found himself half scared and half turned on!
It was one of the most enjoyable shows we’ve done and were flattered to be called back on stage for an encore! Even our stage manager got a well deserved, rapturous round of applause from her hometown and found herself welling up a little. It was great partying with everyone afterwards and hearing how much they enjoyed it.
Roadwater, you were awesome!
It did take a Little Chef breakfast & dark sunglasses to help us recover the next day though (yes that is an apple crumble & ice cream Fifi is eating for breakfast)!
